• Three Alabama high school softball teams barred from postseason for rule violation (usatoday.com) — Smiths Station High School’s softball team has been removed from the 2026 postseason after self-reporting a violation of the AHSAA’s game-limit rule for one player. The school must forfeit all affected games, losing its 7A, Area 4 runner-up playoff spot to a replacement team. Horseshoe Bend and Isabella high schools received similar penalties in the 2A bracket.
