Center Point Homicide Suspect In Custody

A suspect in the shooting death of 56-year-old Kenny Unsells Hambright Dec. 7 has been arrested by Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — A Crimestoppers tip led to the arrest of a man accused in the shooting death of 56-year-old Kenny Unsells Hambright Dec. 7 in Center Point. Cordlin Garrett, 26, was taken into custody Saturday by Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies.

Hambright was one of five homicide victims in a span of three days in the Birmingham metro area.

Deputy Chief David Agee of the Jefferson County Sheriff's office said a Crimestoppers tip on Garrett connected to other crimes in the area led to the arrest.

Hambright's murder was in the same apartment complex in Center Point wherea woman was reported kidnapped over the weekend, and where 3-year-old Kamille McKinney was reportedly murdered.
