ESPN To Televise Pinson, Hewitt-Trussville Season Openers

Defending state champion Pinson Valley and 7A powerhouse Hewitt-Trussville will have their opening football games televised on ESPN.

TRUSSVILLE, AL - A couple of area high school football teams have garnered national attention, as ESPN is close to coming to an agreement to televise the season openers for both Pinson Valley High School and Hewitt-Trussville.

According to a report by the Trussville Tribune, Pinson Valley's game against defending 7A state champion Hoover will be televised, and Hewitt-Trussville's opener against Cedar Grove High School in Georgia will likely be aired on the national sports channel.

Pinson Valley's opening game will take place August 25 at the Hoover Met at 11 a.m. Hewitt-Trussville vs Cedar Grove is tentatively set to play at 3 p.m.

Pinson Valley went undefeated in 2017, capturing its first state championship . The Indians were one of just two unbeaten AHSAA teams in the state.

Hewitt-Trussville features three players who have already committed to the University of Alabama in QB Paul Tyson, lineman Pierce Quick and receiver Dazalin Worsham.
