HTHS Student Wins Good Citizen Award
Houston Stephen Hall won the 2018-2019 Daughter of the American Revolution Good Citizen Essay Contest.

TRUSSVILLE, AL - A Hewitt-Trussville High School student has been named the winner of the Daughter of the American Revolution Good Citizen Essay Contest. HTHS senior Houston Stephen Hall accepted the award at the January meeting of the Josiah Brunson chapter of the DAR.
Hall was presented with a scholarship check, award certificate and a lapel pin at the event, according to a report by the Trussville Tribune.

Four other area schools participated in the contest and each school had one student chosen as a DAR Good Citizen:
- Center Point High School: Kori Harris
- Clay-Chalkville High School: Kamya Brewster
- Fultondale High School: Samuel Cook
- Pinson Valley High School: Savannah Mayes
This award recognizes and rewards individuals who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. These students are selected by their teachers and peers because they demonstrate these qualities to an outstanding degree.
