• Gadsden, Trussville among Alabama cities receiving outdoor recreation grants (abc3340.com) — Trussville is receiving a $1 million federal recreation grant, matched by another $1 million from the city, to significantly upgrade Masonic Park Playground. New playground equipment, picnic shelters, fencing, and a senior exercise area are planned, with city leaders expecting it to become one of the largest playgrounds serving families across Jefferson County and nearby communities.
   

• Huskies survive OT thriller; Cougars roll (cahabasun.com) — Hewitt-Trussville fans can relive a wild 48-45 triple-overtime win over Oak Mountain, where quarterback Jack Floyd accounted for five touchdowns and led the Huskies to 4-2 overall. Clay-Chalkville, another area power, also dominated Pell City 56-6, with multiple players contributing scores ahead of key region matchups next week.
