Today marks the 58th anniversary of Bloody Tuesday in Tuscaloosa — an pivotal Civil Rights Era event that saw more than two dozen peaceful demonstrators hospitalized with injuries and innumerable others jailed following police retaliation against an organized protest over segregated water fountains and bathrooms in the Tuscaloosa County Courthouse.
