Cottondale Man Dies From Injuries After Being Struck By Vehicle

The Tuscaloosa Police Department says a Cottondale man who was hit by a vehicle in downtown Tuscaloosa on Friday has died from his injuries.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Police Department says a Cottondale man has died after being hit by a vehicle in downtown Tuscaloosa on Friday.

TPD says John Thomas Bigham, 47, was hospitalized after he was struck by an oncoming vehicle while crossing University Boulevard at the 23rd Avenue crosswalk.

The initial call of a pedestrian being struck came in around 11:30 p.m. Friday.

Bigham was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa and later transferred to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, where he died Monday morning.

TPD says its Traffic Homicide Unit is conducting the ongoing investigation.
