Hale County Sheriff's Deputy Charged With Felony Domestic Violence
A Hale County Sheriff's deputy has been charged with felony domestic violence after officers responded to a call of a dispute on Tuesday.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Investigators with the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit have charged a Hale County Sheriff's deputy with felony domestic violence after officers responded to a call of a dispute on Tuesday between a man and a woman.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the multiagency unit, informed local media Wednesday evening that at approximately 4:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's deputies responded to the initial domestic disturbance call in the Taylorwood neighborhood.

Joseph Allen Nail, 36, was taken into custody after deputies learned of a physical altercation between a man and a woman. He was also determined to currently be employed with the Hale County Sheriff's Office.
"Due to the seriousness of the allegations levied by both parties and the fact the Nail was a law enforcement officer, the multi-agency Violent Crimes Unit was requested to conduct the investigation," Kennedy said. "Both subjects sustained minor injuries during the altercation."

Kennedy said the findings of the investigation were presented to a magistrate and Nail was charged with one count of Domestic Violence Strangulation and processed in at the Tuscaloosa County Jail.
Nail's bond was set at $15,000.
What's more, Kennedy said a 24-hour domestic violence hold was placed upon Nail, pursuant to Alabama law, during which Nail will be held before he is eligible to make bond.
