Indeed, it grabbed headlines this week when Central Falcons coach Rodney Bivens resigned after three seasons following the end of the team's season last Friday.

What's more, Paul W. Bryant High Stampede head coach Eldrick Hill is no longer in the role after leading the Bryant High football program since 2014. The Stampede closed out its season with a dismal 1-9 record, as even Tuscaloosa city officials began to express concern over both coaching salaries and the lack of success on the field.

“This is an opportunity for the Tuscaloosa City Schools to identify and recruit two of the best high school coaches in the region, people who are experts in their field, who communicate well and want to build powerhouse programs and make a real, positive impact on their athletes,” TCS Coordinator of Athletics Maurice Heard said.

TCS insists the positions offer competitive pay with playoff incentives and other resources available, in addition to both programs having a strength and conditioning coach on staff.

“We are excited about the opportunity to seek out a coach who will be an amazing asset to our football program, student-athletes, school, and community,” Central Principal Teresha Jones said. “Our alumni and community are willing and ready to serve and support our football program.”

Bryant High Principal Lydia Edwards concurred, saying the school wants athletes to join the football program and play together all four years of high school

“I hope that this search will find a dynamic head football coach who can take our program to the next level," she said.
