Northridge Lineman Kenton Jerido Selected For AL/MS All-Star Game

The Northridge High School standout senior is set to be Tuscaloosa County's lone representative when he takes the field in the showcase game

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Northridge High School senior offensive lineman Kenton Jerido is set to be Tuscaloosa County's lone representative on his home state's roster for the 2021 Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic Football Game in December.

The Alabama High School Athletic Directors and Coaches Association All-Star Selection Committee picked players from nominations submitted by member school coaches at a meeting held Oct. 13 at the AHSAA Office.

"The NHS community is so proud of Kenton and the leadership he has displayed over the past 4 years," Jaguars football coach Mike Vickery told Patch Wednesday. "This is a tremendous honor for him as a player and a tribute to the work ethic he and his teammates have brought each and every day. It is always special as a coach to see your players achieve their goals. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for this special young man."

While the 6-3, 280-pound senior guard committed to South Alabama in August, he also fielded offers from Troy, Georgia State, Middle Tennessee and others while leading the 6-2 Jaguars as part of a massive offensive line.

On the defensive side of the ball, Gordo High School defensive lineman Will Spain is the only other west Alabama player to be selected for the all-star game.

Minor High School football coach Adrian Adams is set to lead Alabama's team as head coach.

Alabama defeated Mississippi 19-7 in the 2020 installment of the game.

The 35th annual Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic Football Game will be played on Dec. 11 on the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg.
