Red Lobster continues to downsize: Here's full list of closed locations, according to a recent report (silive.com) — Vestavia Hills diners are losing their local Red Lobster at 1030 Montgomery Highway as the chain continues nationwide closures during bankruptcy restructuring. The shutdown is part of more than 150 closures since 2024, with additional restaurants closing this year in Alabama and across several other states as the company tries to stabilize under new ownership. 
2. 21st Viva Vestavia to be held Sept. 22 (vestaviavoice.com) — Viva Vestavia Hills returns Sept. 22 to the Vestavia Hills Civic Center, offering residents tastings from about two dozen local restaurants plus a silent auction. Proceeds support the Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce Foundation's scholarship for a Vestavia Hills High School senior and city capital projects, with $50 tickets available online for anyone wanting to sample new neighborhood favorites.
3. Mountain Brook business happenings: September 2026 (villagelivingonline.com) — A new Compton Ace Hardware is planned for The Bray at Liberty Park in Vestavia Hills, with construction expected to start by year's end and opening in about 12 months. The store will be larger than the Crestline Park location, while Crumbl Cookies confirms its Mountain Brook shop has closed but still operates a Vestavia Hills location.
4. Joshua Maners carries infectious spirit into next chapter (vestaviavoice.com) — A recent Vestavia Hills High School graduate, Joshua Maners is known around Vestavia Hills for his kindness, leadership and involvement in bowling, student media and community jobs. Now entering Samford University's Turning Points program, he's continuing a life of connection and independence that has inspired classmates, friends and family to rethink inclusion and opportunity for people with disabilities.
5. fbi holds local child abduction presser (abc3340.com) — Vestavia Hills families should know local police just completed specialized FBI training to respond faster and more effectively to child abductions. The Birmingham-based program standardizes how agencies coordinate in those first critical minutes and stresses how quickly parents and neighbors must share information so investigators can act before precious time is lost.
