Alameda Police Arrest Suspect In Home Invasion

Officers responded to an in-progress home burglary Monday and found the suspect barricaded in a room.

ALAMEDA, CA —Alameda police arrested a man Monday night after he allegedly broke into a home and barricaded himself in a room. The suspect also allegedly was involved in another robbery attempt earlier that night, police said.

According to police reports, shortly before 11 p.m., Alameda police responded to a home on Northwood Drive for a reported in-progress home burglary. The homeowners reported an individual had broken into their house and was barricaded in a room.

Police said the man surrendered after multiple verbal commands. A safety sweep of the home was conducted, and no other suspect was located. Police said they do not believe another suspect was involved.

The APD said that while officers were at the scene of this alleged home invasion, the department received a call from a home on a nearby street reporting that a man had attempted to break into that residence -though was unsuccessful - shortly before the other home invasion occurred.

Police said they believe the man they apprehended inside the Northwood Drive home was the same person who had attempted to break into the other home.
