Coroner Identifies Body Found in Bay Off Alameda
Officials still have not been able to determine where the woman is from.

The Alameda County coroner has identified a body found in San Francisco Bay off Alameda Tuesday afternoon, a coroner’s deputy said. A visitor to Robert C. Crown Memorial Beach spotted the body of 83-year-old Masako Velasquez floating at the shoreline at about 12:30 p.m., according to the East Bay Regional Park District and the coroner’s bureau.

Police and firefighters from Alameda pulled Velasquez from the Bay near Willow Street and Shoreline Drive and contacted the park district, which holds jurisdiction at the beach, park district police Lt. Alan Love said. Medics pronounced Velasquez dead at the beach.

The coroner’s deputy said the coroner’s office does not know where Velasquez is from. Velasquez did not have any identification on her, Love said.
