Fire in Alameda Townhouse Displaces Family of 4
The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced family.

Firefighters kept a townhouse fire in Alameda from spreading beyond a single room and the home’s attic this morning, fire officials said. The fire was reported at 6:21 a.m. in the 3000 block of Mars Drive. A second-story bedroom was burning with flames spreading into the attic as firefighters arrived.
Fire crews quickly put out the blaze, containing it to just that room and the attic. The rest of the home had smoke damage and the family of four who lives there was displaced, according to the fire department. The fire appears to have started accidentally with a ceiling fan, fire officials said, but the cause remains under investigation.
The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced family.
