Man Rescued From Oakland Estuary
Fire department rescue swimmers reached the struggling man as he was going under Monday evening.

ALAMEDA, CA — A man was rescued from the Oakland Estuary Monday evening by Alameda Fire Department Rescue Divers as he went under, according to the fire department.He was rushed to the hospital by ambulance following his rescue.
The struggling man was reported in the water around 5:30 p.m. near the Park Street Bridge and the Park Street Landing Shopping Center. The Alameda Police Department, and both the Alameda and Oakland Fire Departments converged on the scene.
Police officers were able to get a life ring to the man, helping him stay afloat. Meanwhile, a boat ferried rescue swimmers to the man.

According to the fire department, "Alameda Fire rescue swimmers entered the water and were able to rescue the adult male as he began to submerge. The male was brought via rescue board, to an Alameda Fire Rescue Boat, and then taken to an awaiting Alameda Fire Ambulance."
A search for other possible victims did not turn up anyone else. The U.S. Coast Guard joined an extensive water and land search of the surrounding area. The Alameda Fire Department responded with 21 firefighters and two rescue boats. The Oakland Fire Department responded with 11 firefighters and their rescue boat. The U.S. Coast Guard responded with a rescue boat and helicopter. The Alameda Police Department responded with multiple police officers.

No emergency personnel were injured in the rescue and search.
