• AUSD Reviews Enrollment, Approves New Interim Board Member (alamedapost.com) — Alameda's Board of Education has appointed Erick O. Bell as a provisional trustee through 2028 and reviewed rising districtwide enrollment that's keeping more students in AUSD middle schools. Trustees also discussed budget tradeoffs, public records burdens tied to AI, and accepted more than $20,000 in school donations while issuing October proclamations on LGBTQ history, domestic violence awareness, and World Teachers' Day.
   

• Preparing Alameda for El Niño (alamedapost.com) — Alameda officials are ramping up preparations for what could be a historically strong El Niño, and they're asking island residents to get ready now with property protections, emergency supplies, and AC Alert signups. The city details where to get sandbags, how to report flooding or fallen trees, and key safety tips for storms, while also pointing to a November infrastructure measure that could upgrade aging storm drains.
   

• RADwood Is Going Y2K And Making Its NorCal Show Free (carscoops.com) — A big free car show is headed to Alameda on October 24, as RADwood NorCal takes over Gold Bar Hangar at Alameda Point with hundreds of '80s, '90s, and now 2000–2010 vehicles. Local enthusiasts can register in advance, enjoy food trucks, music, a costume contest, and even runway flybys of standout cars during the new Wheels in Motion feature.
