Pedestrian Hit by Car While Crossing Central Avenue
The driver of the vehicle claimed to be blinded by sunlight and accidentally hit the man crossing at Central Avenue and Weber Street. The area was closed off for an hour and a half this morning as police investigated the incident.
A man was sent to Oakland's Highland Hospital this morning after being hit by a car as he crossed Central Avenue.
According to Alameda Police Department traffic supervisor Sgt. Ron Simmons, a man was crossing Central Avenue at Weber Street around 8:25 a.m.
Most vehicles had stopped for him to cross but one driver claimed to be blinded by the sun and collided with the man, Simmons said.

The victim was sent to Highland Hospital with injuries but Simmons said "it appears he will be OK."
Central Avenue was closed for an hour and a half this morning after the incident occurred. APD is continuing to investigate the incident, Simmons said.
