XXX-tra Credit Assignment: Students Told to Take Selfies With Sex Toys?

A high school teacher is under investigation for allegedly telling kids to search through their parents' belongings to find sex toys.

A high school teacher will not return to school for the rest of the school year after he reportedly gave students an extra credit assignment that included searching for sex toys in their parents’ drawers to photograph. The students were allegedly told to take selfies with the sex toys and text them to their math teacher, Wing-Wah Leung.

The incident happened at Encinal High School more than a month ago. The Alameda Unified School District has been looking into the matter since that time. District spokeswoman Susan Davis told Patch, “We take reports like this very seriously and because of that, the district is taking the time to do a complete, in-depth investigation. We know people are upset about this story. We also know that it’s hard for the public, and especially for parents, to hear that we can’t talk about the details of the investigation in public. But that information has to be kept confidential, both to protect the rights of all involved and to preserve the integrity of the investigation. We know that people have a lot of questions. We have questions, too, and are doing our best to get to the truth in this matter.”

The teacher remained in the classroom teaching students through Thursday, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, which reached him in the classroom. In a letter sent to parents, the school principal and district superintendent announced that the teacher has now been removed from the classroom. READ THE FULL LETTER

The investigation came to light when two mothers told the Chronicle about the incident. One mother said that she became aware of the issue when an assistant principal called her on May 1. She was upset that so much time had passed without action being taken.
