Superintendent Warns Of Declining Enrollment
Elementary enrollment has dropped about 10% the past two years. A continuing decline may have consequences next fall.

ALBANY, CA — Elementary school enrollment in Albany has dropped about 10 percent in the last two years, according to School Superintendent Valerie Williams. And that makes the future uncertain.
"We have worked diligently over the past few years to keep our class sizes as low as we can, especially for our youngest learners, and we will continue to do so," she reports in a letter to the community.
"In the fall when school starts, we will be able to determine final numbers of students who actually attend school," Williams continued. "It is possible that class sizes will need to be adjusted based on these actual attendance numbers."
