Victim Suffers Minor Injures in Attempted Robbery at UC Village
UC Berkeley police said anyone with information about the incident should call their criminal investigation unit at (510) 642-0472.

A victim sustained minor injuries when he was hit in the head in an attempted robbery at the University Village in Albany on Thursday night, police said today. Two male University of California at Berkeley students were walking in the 900 block of Ohlone Avenue in the University Village when three suspects approached them from behind, UC-Berkeley police said.
The suspects hit one of the victims in the head when they attempted to pull the victims’ backpacks off of them, according to police. The suspects were able to remove a backpack belonging to one of the victims but then they dropped it, police said. The suspects ran away and may have driven away in a dark-colored sedan near the intersection of Jackson and Buchanan streets, according to police. UC-Berkeley and Albany police officers searched the area but couldn’t locate the suspects, according to police.

One of the victims suffered minor injuries and was treated and released at the scene by Albany firefighters, police said. Authorities described one of the suspects as a white male between the ages of 18 and 20 who is about 5-foot-10, has a thin build and short brown hair and was wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt. Police said another suspect is described as a white male between 18 and 20 years old with a thin build and blonde hair who was wearing a hooded sweatshirt. Police said there isn’t a description of the third suspect.
UC Berkeley police said anyone with information about the incident should call their criminal investigation unit at (510) 642-0472 or (510) 642-6760. University Village is a housing community for UC-Berkeley students who are married or have dependents.
