📰 News we're reading

• Southern Marin (CA) Fire Board Selects Next Chief (fireengineering.com) — Southern Marin's fire district, which serves Alto and nearby communities, has hired Alameda County Fire Department leader Heather Marques as its new chief starting October 13. She'll oversee 90 employees and emergency services in Alto, despite some union concerns about the recruitment process and her past legal dispute with a firefighters union, which she says will not affect her work locally.
