Candlelight Vigil Held for Victims of San Bernardino Shooting

Among those who gathered were relatives of the victims.

Thousands of people gathered Thursday night to honor the victims of Wednesday’s mass shooting in San Bernardino, including relatives of the victims and members of the community joining to heal together. Fourteen people died in the massacre and another 21 were wounded.

One man who lost his wife in the shooting attended, along with the couple’s children, “She was great. I took the kids to school and she was getting ready to go to work - to go to her conference. And that was the last moment we saw...half an hour later I texted her to say have a great day, and that was it.”

Also in attendance was a woman who felt she needed to be there, “We need to be strong. Even though we might not be related to any of the victims, or we might not know them, I feel like it still resonates a lot with us because we’re all hurting. It happened in our community and it hurts us all.”

The candlelight vigil was held at San Manuel Stadium, a minor league ballpark in San Bernardino. Police estimate the crowd at 3,500.
