
The U.S. Geological Survey reports that a 4.0-magnitude earthquake shook the East Bay this morning at 6:49 a.m. The quake was located about a mile north of Piedmont and 3 miles southeast of Berkeley, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
Several small aftershocks have been reported following the earthquake that struck this morning. No damage or injuries have been reported as a result of the temblor or aftershocks.

In August of 2014, the North Bay Area was rattled by 6.0 magnitude earthquake centered just six miles southwest of Napa in American Canyon. A 4.0-magnitude earthquake in Fremont shook the East Bay in July.
