On October 11, 2021, at approximately 12:14 p.m., deputies responded to the 1100 block of Donax Avenue in the city of Imperial Beach for a report of a subject who was lying on the ground. Upon arrival, deputies found William Louis Bischel (DOB 04/07/65) suffering from trauma to his head. The victim was unresponsive, and deputies began CPR. Paramedics arrived a short time later and took over the lifesaving measures. Bischel was transported to UCSD Medical Center. Unfortunately, he did not survive his injuries.

During the initial investigation it was determined that Bischel was injured during a family related argument with his step-son, Michael Jarad Ezell (DOB 02/18/1997). Ezell has been arrested and will be booked into the San Diego Central Jail on the charge of 187(a) P.C.-Murder. The Sheriff's Homicide Unit is handling the investigation and the victim's next of kin has been notified.
