The family of 3 is relying on the Red Cross for help.

Firefighters extinguished a one-alarm kitchen fire in a Castro Valley home late Wednesday afternoon, a fire spokeswoman said.
The fire was reported at 4:42 p.m. in the 18400 block of Carlwyn Drive, Alameda County Fire Department spokeswoman Aisha Knowles said.
The house’s kitchen was on fire when crews arrived. It took about 10 minutes to get the fire out and it did not spread beyond the kitchen, Knowles said.
