MARIN COUNTY, CA – San Rafael police Sunday arrested a suspect in a 2015 Hayward homicide during a credit card fraud investigation at an extended stay motel, police sergeant said.

Police arrested two people in a room at the Extended Stay Deluxe Suites at 1775 East Francisco Ave. in San Rafael, Sgt. Carl Huber said.

One of the occupants who was arrested gave a false name to police, and during the booking process at the Marin County Jail he was identified through a live-scan fingerprint analysis as Joseph Abraham Darling, 41, of Hayward.

The Hayward shooting occurred in the 28000 block of Biscayne Avenue near Ruus Elementary School. Arriving officers found Williams unresponsive, and he later was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Last month, the Hayward police renewed its search effort and asked the public's assistance in locating Darling. Police then said he was suspected of possibly being in the Hayward, Union City or Fremont areas, but added that his exact location was unknown.
