Suspect Arrested for Allegedly Shooting at Hayward Officer
Police aren't releasing the suspect's name until Tuesday.

A man who allegedly shot at a Hayward police officer early Sunday morning was arrested in the same area about 12 hours later, police said today.
The suspect allegedly shot at the officer shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday in the area of Winton Avenue and Soto Road, Sgt. Tasha DeCosta said. The officer wasn’t injured and fired back at the suspect but didn’t hit him, DeCosta said. Police then conducted a lengthy and extensive yard-to-yard search for the suspect in the area and finally located and arrested him at a house in the 300 block of D Street at about 2 p.m. Sunday, she said.
Police aren’t releasing the suspect’s name until Tuesday, when charges are expected to be filed against him in connection with the shooting, DeCosta said.
