Listen To Threatening Phone Scam Reported In Danville

Police said the season for scams, thefts, and robberies is in full swing for ambitious criminals.

DANVILLE, CA — Police are alerting residents to a phone scam targeting Danville residents. Police said the callers, who identify themselves as an official with the Internal Revenue Service, tell the intended target they owe taxes. The victim is told they must pay fines or fees to avoid an arrest warrant and criminal prosecution. Police recommend contacting local police with any questions about suspicious calls or emails. They also discourage giving out personal information over the phone.

Police said the season for scams, thefts and robberies is in full swing for ambitious criminals. In Pleasanton, police are asking for the public's help identifying three suspects who allegedly stole a woman's purse while she was in her Pleasanton driveway Dec. 7. Two of the three men assaulted the victim while the third grabbed her purse from her car.

The attack comes just weeks after an uptick in residential burglaries were reported in Livermore and just days after police shared photos of a car likely casing cars parked in the Positano neighborhood in Dublin. Police are also asking for the public's help identifying a person suspected of burglarizing a parked car in Danville early Saturday morning.
