Package Thieves Target Danville Porches, Police Say
Unattended parcels on your doorstep are easy pickings this time of year for roaming thieves.
DANVILLE, CA — Police in Danville are asking for the public’s help after a rash of package thefts has plagued residents this holiday season. Police officials say the thefts have been reported all over the city and during different times of day and night.
Police are asking residents to report any theft, regardless of the value of the stolen item, so they can try to gather as much information as possible about the thefts to help investigators. Police said each theft is a piece of a puzzle. Danville Police Lt. Allan Shields says information like license plates, photos or video, dates, times and addresses can potentially help.
The number of property crimes — home burglaries, car burglaries, packages stolen from doorsteps — in the East Bay has soared over the past two years, frustrating residents and prompting police departments to urge everyone to “call early and often” if something seems amiss.
