New Raptor Sex Offender Visitor System in Place at SDUHSD Schools
Raptor Search System checks for Sex Offenders before visitors enter campus: Full Report
New Safety System in Place
The new system has taken affect in SDUHSD schools. The new system is a Visitor Management System and SDUHSD warns it is not a visitor deterrent. The system only checks for Sex Offenders, and is not a criminal background search. This system is a computerized Visitor Management System. This system will replace the paper based sign-in sheet and requires the visitor to present a government issued picture ID to enter school grounds.
"We feel certain this will help to keep our schools safer and ask for your cooperation in presenting your valid government issued picture ID when checking in at the school. If a government issued picture ID is not presented, staff will be required to escort you to and from your destination in the school or on school grounds. Together we can ensure our students are as safe as possible. Thank you in advance for your help and understanding in this matter. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns", said Robert Haley SDUSHD's New Superintendent of Schools. In an interview with the Torrey Pines Student News Service, The Falconer, Principal Rob Coppo said, "Anybody who comes on campus has to present either a state issued ID or driver’s license, which feeds into the system and automatically prints out a badge for them with their picture". This is one part many security changes going into affect in the district, including the approval of adding the Sandy Hook Promise program into the district.
