'Coaches vs. Cancer' Fundraiser Is Friday Night at SCC

Proceeds from the game admission fee will be donated to the American Cancer Society, and your name added to the Wall of Hope.

Solano Community College’s (SCC) Athletics Program invites the community to support the American Cancer Society (ACS) atCoaches vs. Cancer night on Friday, February 6, 2015. SCC will host Merritt College: Coach John Nagle and team tip-off at 5:30pm followed by Coach Matt Borchert and team at 7:30pm.

Proceeds from the game admission fee will be donated to the ACS and your name added to the Wall of Hope. Every one of all ages are encouraged to attend.

The Coaches vs. Cancer program is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

This initiative leverages the personal experiences, community leadership, and professional excellence of coaches nationwide to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living through year-round awareness efforts, fundraising activities, and advocacy programs. Since 1993, coaches have raised more than $87 million for the American Cancer Society (coachesvscancer.org).

Athletic Director, Erik Visser commented, “Supporting and raising funds for cancer research is a great cause and our teams are 100 percent behind it. Participating in Coaches vs. Cancer is a long-standing tradition at Solano and we look forward to raising money for the ACS!”

About Solano Community College:

The College has served as the preeminent educational institution in Solano County since 1945 when it was founded as Vallejo Junior College. In the early 1970s, the College moved to its present Fairfield site, and is presently serving over 8,000 students throughout the academic year.
