• Woodruff property could be consolidated for future development — The Downey Patriot (thedowneypatriot.com) — Downey officials are weighing whether to merge 24 small Caltrans-created parcels along Woodruff Avenue into a single 2.64-acre lot, with no construction approved yet. The consolidation near the 105 Freeway would simply reconfigure the land, keeping zoning and land-use rules the same while setting the stage for any future project to undergo full public review. 
• Police hunt suspects after mob loots East LA AutoZone twice in one day (amedpost.com) — Law enforcement is searching for dozens of suspects after coordinated smash-and-grab burglaries hit an East Los Angeles AutoZone during back-to-back street takeovers, with losses topping $50,000. Similar break-ins were also reported at AutoZone locations in Downey, Watts and Long Beach that same weekend, tying the city into a wider pattern of takeover-related crime.
