3 Students Arrested for Shooting Outside El Cerrito High School Friday
The shooting victim was found near the corner of Lincoln and Ashbury avenues on Friday afternoon, according to police.

Three El Cerrito High School students were arrested this morning for allegedly targeting and shooting a 19-year-old man outside the school on Friday afternoon, police said.
The suspects, a 16-year-old Richmond resident, a 16-year-old El Cerrito resident and a 17-year-old Richmond resident, were arrested on school grounds this morning, police said. Officers responded at 2:43 p.m. Friday and found the shooting victim near the corner of Lincoln and Ashbury avenues, police said.
The victim refused medical attention there and was taken to a hospital by relatives. While police said the victim was targeted, they have not disclosed a possible motive for the shooting. The victim was not associated with the high school, according to police.

Police set up a perimeter in the area after witnesses reported seeing suspects fleeing the area and climbing over fences, but officers did not locate the suspects that day. Investigators also learned that a vehicle owned by a student’s parent was struck by gunfire in the incident while it was parked on Ashbury as the parent was picking up the student. The parent did not discover the bullet hole in the car until Saturday, police said.

After their arrest, the three suspects were expected to be booked into Contra Costa County Juvenile Hall today on suspicion of attempted murder and conspiracy, police said.
