Coroner IDs Woman Killed in Friday Crash Near Gilroy
The two-car accident was on Highway 101 south of Masten Avenue.

A woman killed in a two-car collision near Gilroy on Friday morning has been identified today as 57-year-old Christina Cary, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to a report of a collision on U.S. Highway 101 just south of Masten Avenue around 8:40 a.m. Friday, CHP Officer A. Tritenbach said.
A white pickup truck drifted from the right lane onto the right shoulder, Tritenbach said.

The truck then overcorrected and collided with a blue Honda SUV in the left lane, according to the CHP.
Tritenbach said the truck T-boned the SUV and that left both cars overturned in the center divider.

The driver of the SUV, later identified as Cary, died in the collision. Cary was a Gilroy resident, according to the medical examiner’s office.
The driver of the truck was transported to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries. Neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a cause of the collision, but Tritenbach. Anyone with information about the collision to call CHP Officer Davies at (408) 848-2324.
