Healdsburg School District Reviewing Graduation Requirements
The District leadership is meeting with parents, teachers, students, and local business owners for community input.

News from the Healdsburg Unified School District:
The Healdsburg Unified School District Board of Trustees and District leadership team anticipate proposing higher standards to the current high school graduation requirements to ensure that graduates are well prepared for the 21st century demands of college and career opportunities.
“The expectations for future high school graduates are vastly different as a result of global competition. Our graduates need to be equally or better prepared as students in other countries.” said Jeff Harding, HUSD Superintendent. “A Healdsburg High School diploma must reflect the academic preparation necessary to prepare all students to enter the new global work environment.”

The District leadership is meeting with parents, teachers, students, and local business owners to learn how to best prepare Healdsburg students for college and career options. The Board of Trustees will use this community input, along with benchmarking successful practices from high performing districts to develop a proposal to adjust the graduation requirements.
Healdsburg High School’s current graduation requirements exceed or meet California standards for graduation. The HUSD Board of Trustees is considering increasing graduation standards in math, science, career/technical education, and possibly foreign language. In 2014, Healdsburg High School extended course offerings to a seven period day, providing students with more options to complete both required and elective courses.
