The shooting was first reported around 1:33 a.m. at the center located at 301 Smith Ranch Road, just north of the San Rafael city limit, Sgt. Michael Brovelli said. Deputies arrived to find three people – two men and a woman – suffering from gunshot wounds.

The other two victims – Anthony Dominguez Mansapit, 32, an employee of the facility, and Brittney Kehaulani McCann, 30, of Marin City – were taken to Marin General Hospital. As of late Monday afternoon, they both remained in intensive care at the hospital.
The suspect, later identified as Davance Lamar Reed, 37, a transient between Marin City and Vallejo, fled the scene, Brovelli said. The Marin County Sheriff's Office searched the area with assistance from San Rafael Police Department, Novato Police Department, Central Marin Police Authority and the California Highway Patrol, including support from the CHP's helicopter unit.

By Monday afternoon, officials announced that Reed had been taken into custody. He was being held in Sonoma County Jail for an early morning pursuit not related to the shooting.
"Reed made admissions to the detectives which tied him to the crime scene," Brovelli said.
He remained in custody at Sonoma County Jail pending local charges. The timeframe for his transfer to Marin County was unknown.
The shooting remained under investigation.
