HOLLYWOOD, CA — The annual festival in honor of P-22, the famed mountain lion pictured walking in front of the Hollywood sign, will be held virtually on October 24. The National Wildlife Federation #SaveLACougars campaign Wednesday unveiled a new digital platform that will host the event.

The legendary lion was born in the Santa Monica Mountains, and crossed two freeways before taking up residence in Griffith Park. In the time since, he's appeared on the cover of National Geographic and was found in a crawl space under a Los Feliz home.

According to organizers, last year's festival in brought over 8,000 people.

The Grammy-nominated band Black Pumas will perform at the virtual event as well. The group made waves with their self-titled debut album in 2019 and has performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon among other stages.

P-22 was recently spotted roaming the streets in the Hollywood Hills last month. Park rangers speculated he may have been searching for a potential mate.
