• CalOptima Health expands Street Medicine Program across coastal Orange County (newsantaana.com) — Huntington Beach will join Fountain Valley, Seal Beach and Westminster in a new CalOptima Health Street Medicine partnership launching in mid‑2027, bringing mobile medical and behavioral‑health care directly to unhoused residents. The expanded Coastal Cities Continuum aims to cut emergency‑room overuse, coordinate services across city lines, and connect more people on local streets and beaches with housing and ongoing treatment.
   

• Huntington Beach council asks for a closer look at HBPD contract proposal (latimes.com subscription) — Huntington Beach's City Council has delayed approving a new three‑year police union contract, sending it for deeper financial review amid warnings of future budget deficits and even potential bankruptcy risk. Councilmembers are split between concerns over rising public‑safety costs and the need to stay competitive on police pay, with a final vote expected at the Sept. 1 meeting.
