Man Punches Officer In Face At El Cajon KFC

EL CAJON, CA – A patrol officer was injured Monday when a man punched him in the face during a struggle at an El Cajon fast food restaurant. The incident happened around 10 a.m. in the parking lot of a KFC restaurant at 724 Fletcher Parkway.

An employee at a nearby Dollar Tree store said that he and another employee followed the man in the store when they suspected him of shoplifting, according to a report by Fox 5. They then followed the suspect out of the store to KFC and saw an officer approach the man. When the officer made contact with the suspect, the employee said that the suspect reportedly became upset and punched the officer in the face.

Medics took the victim to a hospital for treatment of injuries of undisclosed severity.

Other officers arrested the suspect near the restaurant following another struggle, police said. His name and details on the alleged theft were not immediately available.
