Livermore 'Bike Angel' Needs Donations to Surprise Lake County Fire Victims
An East Bay woman is asking for a Christmas miracle to help a few more deserving residents who lost everything in the Lake County fire.

LIVERMORE, CA- The Livermore woman on a mission to bring happiness to children affected by the Lake County fire is once again asking for donations of gift cards and bicycles for some very special adults and a teen.
Longtime Livermore resident Candy Alcott says she is trying to garner enough bicycle donations from the community before Christmas to surprise a few remaining North Bay community members including an autistic teen, two teachers, a fireman and a 20-year-old man who has to walk about nine miles from Cobb to Middletown for supplies. All of them lost their homes in the deadly fire.
“We are trying to deliver 50 to 60 bikes to those who were still standing in line Nov. 14 after the last 500 were given out,” Alcott told Patch.

Alcott spearheaded the movement to help the Lake County Fire victims back in September and the “Bike Angels” were born. Since then, the “Bike Angels” have tirelessly collected hundreds of donations of new or gently used bicycles and new helmets so the group could keep a promise made to a little boy in an evacuation center following one of the most deadly wildfires in the state.
The “Bike Angels” have already donated 800 bikes for the children in Lake County. Those who have a used bike to donate can drop it off for a tune up.
“If someone has a good, rideable used bike that might need repair, take it to the bike refurbishing program at Del Valle High in Livermore,” Alcott said.

The brutal Valley Fire, which killed four people, injured four firefighters and destroyed 1280 homes, left thousands of adults and children homeless and with nothing more than the clothes on their backs.
