The crash prompted a major response from LA County Fire, Sheriff's deputies, and Avalon Fire, while Supervisor Janice Hahn publicly acknowledged the ongoing rescue effort and urged concern for those on board.

The scheme hit logistics hubs in Los Angeles County cities including Vernon, Long Beach, Compton, Commerce, Pico Rivera and the City of Industry, highlighting vulnerabilities in local freight and warehouse networks.
   

3. Boy Dies In 4th-Story Fall At LA High School: Reports (patch.com) — Families across Los Angeles are reeling after a boy at Benjamin Franklin High School in Highland Park died Wednesday following a fall from a fourth-story campus building, prompting a lockdown and large emergency response. Police and fire officials, including LAPD and Los Angeles School Police, are investigating the circumstances but say there is currently no evidence of foul play.
   

4. 6 Arrested As High-End Vehicle Theft Crew Busted Across LA County, OC (patch.com) — Law enforcement agencies from across Los Angeles County teamed up to dismantle a suspected high-end vehicle theft crew tied to carjackings, pursuits and armed confrontations, recovering nine luxury vehicles and more than a dozen firearms. Six people were arrested after SWAT teams hit 11 locations, and the Los Angeles County District Attorney has filed multiple felony charges against several suspects.
   

5. Healthy Food Affordability In Los Angeles: What California's New Rules Change (parriva.com) — Los Angeles County households are facing stubbornly high food insecurity, with about one in four struggling to afford enough to eat even as California rolls out new rules to label healthier, less-processed foods and kids' meals. The piece explains how state nutrition certifications and restaurant sugar warnings may help long term, but don't directly cut grocery prices or expand assistance that local families urgently need now.
