Person shot near Santa Monica Pier; Suspects on the run (foxla.com) — Police say a robbery attempt near the Santa Monica Pier Sunday night ended with a victim shot in the leg and suspects still on the run. The person's injuries are believed to be minor, but no arrests or suspect descriptions have been released. Los Angeles County woman, family cat recovering after rattlesnake bites on consecutive days (cbsnews.com) — A Palmdale woman and her cat are recovering after both were bitten on consecutive days by the same rattlesnake at their Los Angeles County home. Doctors and a local snake expert are using the incident to remind residents to seek immediate medical care after bites and to watch children and pets closely around brushy, shaded areas during hot weather.

Breaking: Vista Fire reported in Los Angeles County on Aug. 23 (mercedsunstar.com) — A new wildfire called the Vista Fire was reported Sunday night in Los Angeles County, burning on federal land managed by the U.S. Forest Service. Officials have not yet released information on containment or the cause, so residents should stay alert for updates from fire authorities and local agencies as conditions evolve.
   

5. 10 hospitalized after rollover crash in Whittier, Los Angeles County firefighters say (cbsnews.com) — Ten people were hospitalized after a violent two-car rollover crash in Whittier Sunday night, with Los Angeles County firefighters reporting three victims in critical condition. The collision near Telegraph Road and Biella Way left one car on its side and another upside down, closing the intersection for nearly an hour while crews treated patients and cleared debris.
