Downed Power Lines Knock Out Power to Thousands in Seal Beach
A power outage caused by wind damage left thousands without power Monday.

Thousands of Seal Beach residents spent the day without electricity after powerful winds downed power lines in Leisure World.
The power outage began at 6:33 a.m., when the wind knocked down overhead equipment at St. Andrews Drive and Oakmont Drive, according to Southern California Edison and the Orange County Fire Authority.
About 4,267 customers were left without power, said SCE spokesman Paul Netter. By 4:15 p.m., power had been restored to all but 1,428 customers, he said.

As of 6 p.m., the company did not know when the power would be restored to the remaining customers left in the dark.
Gusts reaching upwards of 60 miles an hour in some places caused havoc on utilities throughout Orange and Los Angeles counties, leaving thousands without power throughout the day.
