Good Thursday morning, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Los Alamitos-Seal Beach Patch surf report. Well, it's off to a slow start, but we should see things improve a bit throughout the day. The conditions are mostly clean and glassy early on, with a small dose of building west-northwest swell in the water. That recipe is offering most Seal Beach spots some fairly weak and crumbly lines, with a few workable ones on a log or maybe a fish. Most of this stretch of coast is hanging in the knee-to-thigh-high range, with the focal points pulling waist-high sets. Taking a look at the tides: At 8:54 this morning it climbs way up to a 5.7 high which is going to have many spots pretty swamped or even shut off mid morning. Your best bet: Wait for that tide to turn around and drop a bit. It eventually drains out to a negative 0.6 low at 3:42 this afternoon. If you're planning on paddling, break out at least a 3/2 full-suit or the 4/3 and possibly the booties, with the water temperature hanging between 56 and 57 degrees. See ya in the water!
