The structures threatened by the Alta Fire were saved, said Con Fire Captain Steve Aubert.
Another fire in Contra Costa County, the Deer Fire, also broke out Monday afternoon and was reported by Con Fire around 4 p.m. on Twitter. Firefighters stopped the forward progress of the 30-acre vegetation fire on the 9000 block of Deer Valley Road in Brentwood.
Firefighters are now in mop-up mode, meaning they are extinguishing the residual fire so it does not spread outside the established containment area.
The structures threatened by the Deer Fire have also been saved.
The source of both the fires is still unknown and under investigation, Aubert said.
