MVPD Nabs Alleged Walmart Shoe Thief

The 26 year old reportedly not only wore shoes out of the store without paying, he also struck an employee who tried to stop him, cops said.

A 26-year-old man who allegedly stole a pair of shoes from a Mountain View Walmart store last week has been arrested, police said.

Garbiel Zuniga, a Mountain View resident, was arrested without incident on a warrant Wednesday outside a 7-Eleven store at 276 E. Whisman Road, police said. Zuniga tried on a pair of shoes at a Walmart store at 600 Showers Drive and allegedly left without paying for the merchandise shortly before 2 p.m. on Aug. 16, according to police.

The store’s loss prevention employees tried to stop him but Zuniga allegedly struck one of the officers in the face and fled the scene, police said. Zuniga was arrested on suspicion of battery and petty theft and booked into county jail, according to police.
