Murrieta Fire Destroys Home Near Sports Park
A structure fire Saturday in a single-family home sent out a large plume of smoke visible around the Murrieta area.
MURRIETA, CA — A two-alarm structure fire broke out Saturday afternoon in a large, single-story home on Los Alamos Road, sending up a black plume of smoke into the air and forcing the temporary closure of the major thoroughfare.
The home was located on Los Alamos Road, just west of Ruth Ellen Way, and directly adjacent to Los Alamos Sports Park, a witness at the scene told Patch. The fire was first reported at 3:38 p.m.
At least 10 fire engines were sent to the scene, from both the Murrieta Fire Department as well as the Riverside County Fire Department.

Images from the scene showed flames pouring out of the home as crews worked to douse them. Crews were at the location for several hours working to fully extinguish the fire.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known and it wasn't clear how many people were displaced.
