Gunfire Erupts Near Costa Mesa Grocery Store; Suspect Arrested: Police

COSTA MESA, CA — Gunfire erupted near a Costa Mesa grocery store Tuesday, leaving one man wounded and another man arrested.

The shooting happened at 7:35 a.m. near a Stater Bros. store at 2180 Newport Blvd., according to the Costa Mesa Police Department.

The victim was rushed to a hospital and was expected to survive, police said.

The suspect in the shooting was tracked by police to the 2400 block of Newport Boulevard, where police worked to apprehend him just before 2:30 p.m., police said.

No further information was immediately available.
