Mother And Son Arrested During Huge Drug Seizure In Marin County: Police

Police said they found over 3.5 pounds of suspected cocaine, along with large, sellable quantities of suspected MDMA, LSD and ketamine.

NOVATO, CA — A routine drug investigation in Novato escalated on Tuesday, resulting in the arrest of a mother and her son and the seizure of a significant amount of illegal drugs, including over three and a half pounds of suspected cocaine, police said.

The Marin County Specialized Investigative Unit said they first began looking into a Novato residence in January after intercepting a package destined for the home that contained 400 tablets of Tapentadol, a highly controlled painkiller similar to Oxycodone.

On Tuesday, detectives served a search warrant at the home and encountered 71-year-old Carolyn Connor at the front door.

Police said Connor was uncooperative and alerted her 37-year-old son, Eric Garcia

As detectives detained Connor, Garcia reportedly retreated further into the home and attempted to hide before eventually surrendering.

During the search of the home, detectives found over 3.5 pounds of suspected cocaine, along with large, sellable quantities of suspected MDMA, LSD, and ketamine, in addition to various other suspected illegal substances.

Police said they also found evidence suggesting Garcia was involved in selling drugs.

Connor and Garcia were booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of numerous serious drug-related charges.
