4-Month Freeway Closure To Jam Up LAX Travelers

A San Diego (405) Freeway /Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway transition will be closed for four months.

LOS ANGELES, CA — If you have to head north to get to LAX get ready for some delays.

Starting tonight, the transition ramp from the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway to the westbound Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway will close for reconstruction for four months. Motorists are being advised to expect delays and to take the 405 to get to Los Angeles International Airport.

The ramp will close at 10 p.m. Tuesday. Caltrans officials anticipate the project will be completed at the end of April. Workers will demolish the roadway and rebuild the embankment to install a new drainage system.

As a detour, motorists are advised to exit the northbound 405 at either Imperial Highway or Century Boulevard and turn left toward Los Angeles International Airport. Motorists traveling from farther south should consider taking the Harbor (110) Freeway north to the 105 as an alternative.

Caltrans officials said they scheduled the project in consultation with LAX officials in hopes of avoiding the airport's most congested periods.
